De Hoppluk in figures:
- 750 beer lovers pick the hops grown by Palm
- 5.000 spectators enjoy a day of Belgian beer and hop culture
- € 25.000 awarded to youth associations
For the seventh year, the Palm Brewery organized its hop picking festival. Palm started its own hop cultivation in 2011, good for about 3.000 hop vines. 750 beer lovers signed up for this edition to participate in the hop pick themselves, and some 5.000 spectators also enjoyed the total program. In addition to the Palm brewery hall, De Hoorn Brewery, known for its Cornet and Arthur's Legacy beers, also opened its doors. This also applied to Diepensteyn Stud, home to the well-known Palm horses. Delicious street food dishes were served from ten vintage food trucks. With the high temperatures, the low alcohol, Palm Session IPA, launched in the spring, was a hit at numerous bars. Also this year the Hoppluk was combined with Highland Games. There was also renewal with the first Hoprock. Five selected laureates of the Honorary Citizen Fund Alfred Van Roy received, on behalf of the management of Palm NV - from the hands of Pieter Swinkels - the allocated funds amounting to € 25.000.
